How to deal with examination pressure ?

chitrannaa.blogspot.in

I was both shocked and pained by the incident that happened in PESIT engineering college day before yesterday. An young life was cut short by the insensitivity of the teachers. If the teachers have really put pressure on the boy and thereby were instrumental in the kid taking this extreme step it is really unpardonable. How can you force anybody to exceed their limits?
It is one thing to encourage and motivate but totally wrong to put pressure. Common, if that were the case why are you not Bill Gates or Steve Jobs? Come to think of it both of them were actually school drop-outs and leave alone becoming like them, even to work in their company, anybody would give up his right hand !

Even after two days I am not able to sleep and my eyes turn moist every time I recall that innocent face and the plight of their parents. And to top it all, the college management has given a statement that they will appoint counselors for the students. Mr.Jawahar, it is not the students but the teachers and the management which needs counseling.

By the way why is this society so worked up about such degrees and tags? Agreed the salary is handsome but one should always be aware of their wards’ limitations. Just by admitting your kid to IIT coaching classes doesn’t ensure that he will enter the premier institution. They will trap you with letters that your child is one in top 50 or 100. He may be one in that particular class, but not in the entire country where such coaching classes have mushroomed in every city. According to me a parent can easily judge whether his son/daughter can get through such competitive exams. If they are marginally lagging, encourage them. Otherwise let them do what they are happy and comfortable with.

A word to the student also. Dear Pranav, what have you achieved by sacrificing your life except giving pain to your parents, loved ones? The society will cry for a week but the public memory is very short. Actually yours is an act of cowardice. You could have challenged your detractors by doing what you want and excelling in what your heart tells you to do and asking them to go to hell. That would have encouraged your fellow students too. Life is a very precious gift from God to be wasted like this. Agreed you may not earn as much as next guy, but you should learn to draw the line. Can we change physical appearance if one has a squint eye or a flat nose or a short body. ( Hello, don’t bring Prianka chopra or Rakhi sawant here!) So same is the case with our mental abilities too.One can go only this far and no further.

So parents and teachers, please don’t push the young ones too hard, and the boys and girls, be smart, listen to the elders, and learn and excel in what you enjoy. Remember

“ SUB KA SUN NA AUR KHUD KA KARNA “.
